A simple promise: we collect the minimum we need to teach you to cook, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it any time.
This Privacy Policy explains what information The Therapeutic Chef, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit thetherapeuticchef.com (the “Site”), enroll in our cooking course, book a discovery call, or sign up for our free meal plan and newsletter, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. 1.Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Contact details— your name and email address when you sign up for the free meal plan, the newsletter, the course, or a discovery call.
- Booking details— the date and time of your discovery call or one-on-one cooking session, plus any dietary preferences and notes you choose to share when scheduling.
- Course information— the questionnaire answers, kitchen photos, goals, and dietary preferences you share with Chef Jake during the consultation and one-on-one session, so we can teach you well.
- Messages— anything you write to us by email, contact form, or social media DM.
Information collected automatically
- Basic analytics— pages viewed, approximate location (city / region), device type, browser, and referring site. We use this to understand which pages are useful and to fix what’s broken.
- Cookies and similar tech— small files that keep you logged in to the course, remember your preferences, and power analytics. See Section 6 below.
- Course progress— which lessons and videos you have viewed inside the member portal, so we can show your progress and let you pick up where you left off.
Information from third parties
- Payment confirmationsfrom our payment processor (the last four digits of your card and the billing zip code — we never see or store your full card number).
Lead-magnet form
Lead-magnet form.When you submit our free meal-plan form, we store your email address, the survey answers you provide, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string in our own database. IP and user-agent are retained for up to 12 months for abuse investigation. Your email and answers are stored in our own database and sent through our email service provider (Resend) to deliver the meal plan and follow-up tips; see Resend’s privacy policy for their handling.
Instagram interactions
Instagram comment automation.If you comment on one of our Instagram posts with a keyword we have set up (for example, “meal plan”), we receive your Instagram username, your Instagram account ID, and the text of your comment through Meta’s Instagram Graph API, and we send you one automated private reply (a direct message) with a link to the resource you asked for. We use this only to deliver that resource. We do not add your Instagram contact to our email lists from this interaction, and we never sell it. We keep the record of your comment and our reply for up to 90 days — for delivery confirmation and abuse prevention — then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner, or have us stop replying to you, by emailing hello@thetherapeuticchef.com; you can also simply not comment the keyword. Your use of Instagram is also governed by Meta’s own privacy policy.

We do not use your information to train machine-learning models, and we do not use it to send you advertising for unrelated products.
3.How we share your information
We share information only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only the minimum they need to do their job. Today these include:
- Supabase— our database and login provider; stores your account, course progress, and contact record.
- Cloudflare— hosts and streams the course videos.
- Our payment processor(e.g., Stripe) — processes payments and stores billing data.
- Resend— our email service provider; sends the newsletter, the free meal plan, and course account emails.
- Calendly— books discovery calls and one-on-one sessions. Receives the name, email, and dietary preferences you submit when scheduling.
- Meta (Instagram)— when you interact with our Instagram comment automation, Meta’s Instagram Graph API delivers your comment to us and delivers our automated private reply to you. See Meta’s privacy policy for their handling.
- Hosting and analytics providers— keep the Site online and tell us how it’s used.
- Professional advisors— our accountant and, if needed, our lawyer.
We also may share information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a sale or transfer of the business — in which case we’ll let you know.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
4.How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize it. Specifically:
- Newsletter subscribers:until you unsubscribe, then we remove your address from active lists within 30 days (we keep a small suppression record so we don’t accidentally re-add you).
- Course students: for the duration of your access plus seven years afterward, for tax and accounting purposes.
- Discovery call notes: up to 12 months after the call.
- General email correspondence: up to 24 months unless we need it longer.
- Instagram automation records: up to 90 days after we send the automated reply, then deleted.
5.Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can email hello@thetherapeuticchef.com to:
- Ask what personal information we have about you.
- Correct anything that’s wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter — every email also has an unsubscribe link.
- Opt out of analytics cookies.
If you live in California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, you also have the right to access, port, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. We will honor those requests as the law requires. We do not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
6.Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep the Site working and keep you signed in to the course. Analytics cookies help us understand traffic in aggregate. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies; doing so may break parts of the Site (like staying logged in to the course).
7.Children
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.
8.Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information — encrypted connections, strong passwords, limited access, reputable vendors. No system is perfectly secure, though, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we’ll notify you as required by law.
9.International visitors
We are based in Colorado, in the United States, and our service providers are primarily in the U.S. If you visit the Site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Services, you consent to that transfer.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, give you reasonable notice (for example, by email or a notice on the Site).
